So 2011 is almost upon us… but what a year 2010 has been! Despite concerns that the worldwide recession was going to lead to another sombre year of companies tightening their belts and disappearing off the social scene, we’ve enjoyed one of the busiest years yet at Azam Marketing.

Our team has been out in force, pitching to and winning a host of exciting new clients across all of our marketing divisions.

We are delighted to have added Borro, ActivInstinct, Millet Sports, Ministry of Paintball and Regus to our portfolio of online advertisers and look forward to helping them grow their businesses in 2011.

Throughout 2010 we’ve attended a wide range of conferences and get-togethers, where we’ve been able to make valuable new contacts as well as meeting up with all of our friends in the industry. Notable events this year have included TFM&A, the a4u Awards, Think Visibility, the a4u Expo and many others. We’ve also had stands at Social Media Marketing 2010 and Internet World to spread the word about our services.

After bagging a record five nominations at the annual a4u Awards, six of us attended the glitzy black tie ceremony in central London in June. We were thrilled when our Paid Search Marketing team were Highly Commended in the Best Lead Generation category and the award now has pride of place at Azam HQ!

In August, we were pleased to add a new team member to our successful email marketing division, Rana Hussain, who joined us as Senior Data Analyst and Campaigns Co-ordinator. Rana has already made huge contribution in helping us expand and develop our eCRM activities and it has been a pleasure to welcome him onboard.

Nadeem took the opportunity to speak at this year’s a4u Expo in October – a session entitled ‘How to Build and Make Real Money on Your Email Lists’ which was warmly received by a large audience at London’s Excel centre. View the presentation here.

As we look forward to the New Year and to 2011, I asked my colleagues to share their personal highlights of 2010, as well as their New Year’s Resolutions. Here’s what they had to say:

Nadeem Azam, CEO
Highlight of 2010: It has to be when Azam was selected as a finalist for five categories at the a4u Awards, a record for any agency.
New Year’s Resolution: I’d love to be able to finally go to Affiliate Summit in the States. I’ve been dying to go for years and the organisers have even offered me a free ticket, but I can never tear myself away from my work for a few days to attend.

Sinead Hernen, Director, Affiliate Partnerships
Highlight of 2010: The opportunity to spend time away from home with my family, visiting Spain, Northumberland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
New Year’s Resolution: To make more time to develop my own hobbies and interests as well as continuing to spend quality time with my family and friends.

Rana Hussain, Senior Data Analyst and Campaigns Co-ordinator
Highlight of 2010: I was thrilled to join Azam Marketing on my birthday. I was attracted by the company’s entrepreneurial spirit and the freedom that employees get with their work. It is an environment to flourish in.
New Year’s Resolution: To lose weight and get fit!

Ryan Ranaweera, Senior ECRM Manager
Highlight of 2010: Getting my first real pet – my beloved dog Kaiser. As a mix of Rottweiler and Doberman, he can be challenging to handle but Kaiser has become an integral part of my life and I wouldn’t change him for the world.
New Year’s Resolution: Simply to become a better person, to dedicate more time to family and to become more successful.

Pam Sagoo, Client Services Director
Highlight of 2010: Getting on the property ladder has most definitely been a personal highlight in 2010. It’s been a struggle having seen more than 50 houses over several years, so to finally find the right one and get through the stresses of all the paperwork has been hugely satisfying for me. Now onto making my house a home!
New Year’s Resolution: I will be looking to finally learn a European language or two!

Karen Clayton, Key Accounts Director
Highlight of 2010: I’ve been lucky to travel abroad several times this year, including Italy and the UAE. Visiting Dubai in February was a real eye-opener and I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to experience their culture and extravagant architecture first-hand.
New Year’s Resolution: To become braver and not be afraid to try new things!

All that remains is to wish our blog readers Seasons Greetings and Best Wishes for 2011!
